BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating after a man was shot in a front yard Thursday afternoon.
Detectives had been searching for a "person of interest" to speak to about the shooting but he has spoken to them.
Police responded to a residence located in the 2100 block of Avenue A after receiving a report that a man was laying on the ground after shots were fired.
When officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old Beaumont man in the front yard bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound.
An officer that was first to arrive on the scene applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding.
The man was transported by ambulance around 12:40 p.m. to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The victim was in critical condition but has been stabilized to be transported to Houston, according to Beaumont police.
A witness spoke with investigators and stated that a black pick up truck left the area, traveling eastbound on Emma Street.
