Man sentenced to six years in prison as part of plea agreement after 2022 stabbing

BEAUMONT, Texas — A man has been sentenced to six years in prison for pleading no contest to aggravated assault after a 2022 stabbing in Beaumont.

Jaime Parada-Gonzales is accused of stabbing a man at a Holiday Inn on Interstate 10 and Walden Road on Nov. 22, 2022. The victim has been stabbed multiple times.

Parade-Gonzales appeared before Judge Raquel West on February 20, 2024 and pleaded guilty to 2nd degree felony aggravated assault. He faced a cap of 12 years in prison.

He previously had a choice of allowing a jury to decide his punishment, or allow the judge to determine punishment. He chose to be sentenced by Judge West.

Judge West sentenced Parada-Gonzales to six years in prison as part of a plea agreement.
