Man sentenced to over seven years in federal prison for firearms violation following traffic stop in Vidor

Martinez, 33, was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Crone on Thursday.

VIDOR, Texas — A Richmond, Texas man will spend over seven years in federal prison for a firearms violation. 

Aaron Martinez, 33, was sentenced Thursday to 87 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone after pleading guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. 

On August 3, 2021, Martinez was pulled over for a traffic violation in Vidor. 

The officer found out that Martinez had an outstanding felony warrant. During a vehicle search, the officer found a loaded firearm along with ammunition. 

An investigation revealed that Martinez was a convicted felon and prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition, according to a release. 

This case was investigated by the Vidor Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
