BEAUMONT, Texas — A New Orleans man has been sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison for a 2022 violent carjacking that happened in Vidor.
Aubrey Young, 37, pleaded guilty to carjacking and was sentenced to 12 and a half years, in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on July 1.
The incident began in Vidor on October 26, 2022 around 3 p.m. A man and a woman were sitting in a car in front of a house that was under construction on North Lakeside Street, Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll previously told 12News.
Young asked the two people if they had any work for him. When they said they did not, Young pulled a firearm from his backpack and demanded the keys from the victims, according to information presented in court.
Young then took their vehicle and drove away. The car was spotted near Anahuac and a high-speed chase began. Young was arrested and a firearm was found in the stolen vehicle.
