BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont man was sentenced to five years probation after being charged with pointing a gun at his girlfriend while she was holding their child.
Damian Ardoin, who was charged with recklessly abandoning a child and aggravated assault accepted a plea deal Thursday morning that gave him five years probation.
A related charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was dismissed as a part of the plea deal.
The girlfriend of Ardoin told police that on Oct. 1, 2023, Ardoin got a rifle from the closet, "cocked" it at her and verbally threatened her.
The girlfriend said she was holding their child when Ardoin threatened her and she feared for her life, according to a probable cause affidavit.
She told police Ardoin grabbed her legs, pulled her out of bed and dragged her to the living room where he pulled her hair, stomped on her neck.
This caused her to lose the ability to breathe for a short time as he used his body weight to hold her down, according to the affidavit.
Police officers said they observed physical injuries on the woman.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
