Man sentenced to 10 years probation for online solicitation of child under 14

BEAUMONT, Texas — A man was sentenced today to 10 years of probation for online solicitation of a minor.

Avanta Chevalier previously pleaded guilty to online solicitation of a minor under 14.

He was indicted on the charge Jan. 1, 2024, and appeared before Judge Raquel West for sentencing this morning.

According to court records, the offense occurred Jan. 1, 2023.

Judge West sentenced Chevalier to 10 years of probation with a $500 fine. If he violates his probation, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Judge West also ordered him to undergo mental health treatment and register as a sex offender.
