Man pleads guilty to 2022 aggravated robbery, receives probation after murder charge is dropped

BEAUMONT, Texas — A man has recieved 10 year probation after pleading guilty to an aggravated robbery charge.

Carron Joseph Dickenson, Jr. was facing 5-99 years or life in prison if he had been found guilty by a jury.

On September 21, 2022 around 10:37 p.m., Beaumont police officers responded to the 300 block of E. Simmons about a victim of a shooting.

The victim, a 46-year-old Beaumont man, advised that a black male known as "Randle" was at his residence. He was later identified as Randle Cormier, a 20-year-old Beaumont man.

Cormier took out a gun and attempted to rob the victim. Dickenson then entered the house after Cormier to help with the robbery, according to a Beaumont Police Department news release.

The victim pulled out his own gun and shot at Cormier, who fired back. Cormier left and was brought to the hospital by private car, where he died soon after.

The victim, was shot numerous times and taken to the hospital by EMS and survived.

As part of Dickenson's plea agreement, the murder charge was dropped. Judge John Stevens sentenced Dickenson to 10 years probation which is the maximum allowed by the plea agreement with the prosecution. Dickenson was represented by attorney Ryan Gertz.
