Man indicted for striking woman with car, leaving scene

He tried to report his vehicle stolen because he was afraid that he hit the woman, police say.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A man was indicted for striking a woman with his vehicle, leaving the scene and attempting to make a false report to police.

Arthur Rideaux, 33, was indicted today for collision involving serious bodily injury.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a hit-and-run collision happened in the 3400 block of Dowlen Rd. 

The woman was hit by a Dodge Charger and suffered a broken arm and abrasions. 

Rideaux called police to report his Dodge Charger as stolen. When officers spoke with him, he admitted to being the driver who struck the woman, according to the probable cause affidavit.

He told police that he tried to report his vehicle stolen because he was afraid that he hit the woman.
