Man hospitalized following Jasper County officer-involved shooting

KIRBYVILLE, Texas — A man was injured and taken to the hospital following an officer-involved shooting Saturday morning in Kirbyville.

Just after 5:30 a.m., the Jasper County Sheriff's Office received a call from a residence on Bon Ami Rd. in Kirbyville, according to our media partner East Texas Banner.

The woman who called was whispering and asking for help, according to Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman.

When a deputy arrived, he was confronted by a man on the front porch of the residence.

Right now, it's unclear what happened between the man and the deputy. It was reported that the deputy shot the man.

The man, who is unidentified, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
