Port Arthur man gets 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual assault of woman with disabilities

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Port Arthur man was on trial this week for the 2022 aggravated sexual assault of a woman with disabilities.

51-year-old Michael Lartigue, of Port Arthur, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault. If a jury had found him guilty, Lartigue would have face 5-99 years in prison. He agreed to take a plea for 25 years in prison rather than have the jury determine his punishment.

In 2022, Lartigue sexually assault a 27-year-old woman with disabilities at knife point. He threatened to kill her if she refused.

Officers who responded got a physical description of Lartigue from the victim and quickly found him at a nearby convenience store. The weapon was also located in a trash can where Lartigue discarded it.
