BON WIER, Texas — A man has been arrested in Newton County after a shooting in Bon Wier on Tuesday, November 19.
A little before noon, deputies were called to 4216 FM 1416 about someone shooting at a house.
When deputies arrived they found the victim and were able to speak to him. The victim told them that 43-year-old LaGerald Jackson had shot at him while he was in the road in front of his house, according to a news release from the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
The bullet hit the driver's side of his vehicle and shattered the windows on the driver's door and back door. The victim was seen bleeding from his right forearm but refused medical attention at the scene, according to the release.
Deputies talked to Jackson, who did not have a weapon when deputies found him but did say that he fired at the vehicle.
Jackson also had an outstanding warrant for a deadly conduct discharge firearm. Jackson was arraigned on November 20, 2024, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct discharge firearm.
Jackson's bond was set at a combined $100,000.00. He is currently in the Newton County Jail.
