BEAUMONT, Texas — A 34-year-old man is accused of identity theft after police found the checkbook and license of a person who died years ago in his possession.
Quindetric Conner was indicted for “fraudulent use of identifying information” on Wednesday.
On Nov. 2, 2021, Beaumont Police officers were called to investigate after a room at The Heritage Inn was purchased with a stolen credit card. Conner was identified as one of the occupants of the stolen room, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Conner told police that the room had been rented for him by his employer. Video from that day showed Conner with the person who purchased the room with the stolen card.
After receiving consent from Conner to search the room, officers found a checkbook and driver's license of a person who died in 2017, according to the affidavit. Conner told police that he found the items and brought them to the room.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
