LUMBERTON, Texas — A Lumberton massage parlor that was previously shut down by the city has been shut down a second time after it was caught operating again.
The A+ Spa massage parlor at 1227 S Main St in Lumberton was previously shut down last month due to city ordinance violations according to police chief Danny Sullins.
The city inspected the business last month and found it had changed hands and the new owners did not have a massage parlor permit or a certificate of occupancy in their names, so they were shut down, Sullins told 12News.
Recently, Lumberton Police were getting calls telling them that the massage parlor was still open after it had been shut down, he said.
Police visited the massage parlor on Sunday, October 6, 2024 and found it open with two customers inside, according to Sullins.
Two employees, one of whom ran out the back door when officers arrived, were at the business when police got there.
The fleeing employee was quickly caught by officers.
The manager of the massage parlor and an employee were both arrested by officers on charges of operating a massage parlor without a permit and not having a certificate of occupancy, Sullins said.
Both charges are class misdemeanors and will be assigned to municipal court.
