BEAUMONT, Texas — A Mexican national was convicted of kidnapping a woman from Liberty, Texas last August in federal court.
Juan Carlos Saucedo-Meza, 21, was found guilty of kidnapping after a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone Wednesday, April 24, U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown said in a news release.
Prosecutors presented information in court that Saucedo-Meza kidnapped a woman from Liberty, Texas and took her to Lake Charles, Louisiana against her will August 24 through August 25, 2018. He was indicted by a federal grand jury on Sep. 5, 2018 and charged with kidnapping.
Saucedo-Meza also faces charges of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in Jefferson County, Texas, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
He faces up to life in federal prison when he is sentenced.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said the case was investigated by the FBI, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Liberty County Sheriff's Office, Lake Charles Police Department and the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.
