KIRBYVILLE, Texas — A Kirbyville mom is speaking out about the man she says lured her teen daughter to South Dakota.

Amber Thomas, of Kirbyville, says Brandon Schofield, of Wall, South Dakota, had been grooming her daughter via Instagram for months leading up to her 17th birthday.

He “promised her a better life with no responsibilities,” Thomas told 12News on Saturday.

He then took Madison Middleton,17, back to his home state of South Dakota she said.

He also promised to buy her anything she wanted according to Thomas.

During the investigation Thomas says she learned that Schofield graduated from high school in 2015 and lives with his father and step-mother in South Dakota.

“He gave her his class ring and it said ‘class of 15’,” Thomas said.

Thomas says he played on her daughter's vulnerabilities.

When Madison went missing on  the evening of Wednesday, November 29, 2023 her parents believed she was going to a friend's house.

Deputies looked for Madison for five days before she was found in South Dakota.

This is an ongoing investigation.
