BEAUMONT, Texas — Jefferson County deputies seized meth and fentanyl following a traffic stop that was initiated after they witnessed several traffic violations on Thursday.
Detectives with the Narcotics Interdiction Division pulled over a tan Chevrolet Malibu along Interstate 10 near Major Dr., after seeing the driver make several traffic violations, according to the sheriff's office.
After deputies spoke with the occupants, they conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.
During the search, narcotics detectives found about one pound of suspected fentanyl and about five kilograms of suspected meth in multiple Ziploc bags.
Kory Schaffer, 32, and Darell Coleman,35, both of New Orleans, were arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
Both men were charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled substance.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is assisting Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
