On February 27, 2024, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was called to a possible vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at US HWY 96 S and County Road 317 just south of Roaganville in Jasper County, according to a JCSO news release.

Before the deputies arrived at the scene, a black truck dropped off a man, identified as Jeffrey Slaydon, 35, of Jasper, wearing a black jacket. He left on a motorcycle, the release states.

According to the release, deputies were able to find the motorcycle on US HWY 96 near County Road 314 and tried to pull it over. That's when the motorcycle began to evade.
