JASPER, Texas — Jasper County deputies are searching for a suspect who they say was involved in a possible vehicle wreck on a motorcycle on Tuesday.
On February 27, 2024, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was called to a possible vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at US HWY 96 S and County Road 317 just south of Roaganville in Jasper County, according to a JCSO news release.
Before the deputies arrived at the scene, a black truck dropped off a man, identified as Jeffrey Slaydon, 35, of Jasper, wearing a black jacket. He left on a motorcycle, the release states.
According to the release, deputies were able to find the motorcycle on US HWY 96 near County Road 314 and tried to pull it over. That's when the motorcycle began to evade.
The chase reached up to 115 MPH, according to the release.
Slaydon wrecked at US HWY 96 and FM 1005, where he then fled on foot into the woods.
The deputy pursued Slaydon on foot but was unable to find him.
Warrants have been issued for Slaydon for evading arrest detention with vehicle, a 3rd degree felony, evading arrest with previous conviction, a state jail felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm by felon, a 3rd degree felony.
Chief Duncan states that Slaydon remains at large and encourages anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Jasper County Sheriff's Office at 409-384-5417 ext. 6 or Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.
