BEAUMONT, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrested a 30-year-old Buna man on human smuggling charges Saturday evening.
Troopers stopped a passenger car for a traffic violation along U.S. Highway 96 just south of FM 1004 at about 5:18 p.m. Saturday evening according to a news release from the DPS.
Joshua Kelly, 30, of Buna, who was a passenger in the car, was wanted on a Kinney County felony warrant for six counts of smuggling of persons and a count of evading arrest with a vehicle according to the DPS.
Kelly was arrested on the warrants and taken to the Jasper County Jail. The DPS did not release any other information.
As of Wednesday afternoon he was still in the Jasper County Jail where his bond is set at $175,000 on all the Kinney County Charges.
