JASPER, Texas — Jasper's city attorney has been charged with driving while intoxicated after being pulled over by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper on Sunday evening.
Michael Ratcliff, 71, of Jasper, who is the city's attorney, was arrested and charged with a DWI after a trooper stopped him Sunday evening at about 5:49 p.m. according to the Texas DPS.
A trooper stopped Ratcliff for an equipment violation while he was driving a Toyota Rav4 on FM2799 near Live Oak Rd, according to the DPS.
After noticing "signs of impairment" and after he was given field sobriety tests, the trooper determined that Ratcliff was under the influence and arrested him.
He was taken to the Jasper County Jail to be booked on the misdemeanor charge according to the DPS.
