Illegal gambling leads to arrest at Port Arthur business

Thang Van Nguyen, 40, of Port Arthur, is charged with gambling promotion.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur police arrested a game room employee Wednesday following an investigation into illegal gambling.

Police arrested Thang Van Nguyen, 40, of Port Arthur, a game room employee of the Dollar Supreme Game Room as part of an ongoing investigation into  illegal gambling at the store.

Nguyen has been charged with gambling promotion which is a class a misdemeanor  punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine up to $4,000.

The store is located at  located at 3637 Twin City Highway in Port Arthur. 

An ongoing investigation uncovered illegal gambling, however, more information about the investigation cannot be given because it is still ongoing, Port Arthur Police Sgt. Ahmaal Bodden said. 

No other arrests were made,  Sgt. Boddin said. 

Nguyen is only charged at this point and is presumed innocent unless convicted or enters a guilty plea.
