BEAUMONT, Texas — A 48-year-old woman from Humble was sentenced this week to 10 years for the intoxication manslaughter death of a 26-year-old Beaumont woman four years ago.

Tonya Bowman, 48, of Humble was sentenced Monday by Judge Larry Thorne in Jefferson County's Drug Impact Court as part of a plea deal.

She stood trial for two weeks in May 2024 but changed her plea to guilty before the jury got the case.

As part of a plea deal Bowman got 10 years in prison in connection with the death of Alexandria Jeanette Esquivel, 26, of Beaumont.

If the jury had found her guilty of the second degree felony she could have faced from two to 20 years in prison.

Bowman was arrested for intoxication manslaughter after she got into the two vehicle wreck in July 2020 that claimed Esquivel's life just after midnight in Jefferson County.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
