The victim has been identified Arthur Logan Orosco, of Buna.

BUNA, Texas — An 18-year-old Buna man has been charged in the fatal shooting of another 18-year-old man found along the highway Wednesday in Buna.

Cody Dwayne Vann, 18, of Buna, has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Arthur Logan Orosco, 18, also of Buna, according to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

He is being held in the Jasper County Jail where his bond was set at $1 million by Jasper County Precinct Six Justice of the Peace Brett Holloway.

Vann was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Jasper County deputies were sent to a location on U.S. Highway 96 south of the Tractor Supply at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning after receiving reports that someone was lying on the edge of the highway.

When they got there, deputies found Orosco on the southbound shoulder of the highway with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff's office.

During the investigation, police obtained information from multiple sources that led to investigators executing a search warrant at a residence in Buna where Orosco had recently been living.
