BEAUMONT, Texas — A quick-thinking witness helped police find a driver suspected of hitting a bicyclist Thursday evening.
The bicyclist was riding along Avenue F when he was hit by a white Ford F150 driven by David Medina, 31 of Beaumont, according to a news release from Beaumont Police. Medina then sped away police said.
However, a witness followed the the F150 as it tore away from the scene, pursuing Medina all the way to his home on Westmoreland Avenue where he was later arrested by officers.
Medina was then taken to the Beaumont Police station for a statement before being taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held for "collision involving serious bodily injury or death" according to jail records.
His bond has not yet been set.
The man was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with life threatening injuries and later flown to Houston police said.
