NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — Newton County Sheriff Billy Rowles faxed his weekly report for Memorial Day weekend to the community.
He warned the community about a recent scam attempt, a thief stealing out of a garage caught on video and offered his thoughts on abortion.
From the Newton County Sheriff's Report...
Hope everyone had a safe and good Memorial Day weekend. Let's not forget what it's all about. Not too bad around here. Let's see what's been going on here in Newton County.
We received several calls about a scam. They were all about social security. If anyone calls you with anything about your social security number or your social security card, HANG UP AND DO NOT RESPOND IN ANY MANNER.
We received a call from a man who didn't know his address. This kind of stuff happens pretty often. What can I say? It would help us if you would make sure your house number is visible in front of your residence. Keep in mind that sometimes they are hard to spot at night.
Received a 911 call reporting a burglary. Victim had a video of a guy stealing items from the garage. Video was put on Facebook and we were able to get him identified. He was already in our jail for possession of drugs and a stolen vehicle. The stolen items were recovered. Video cameras do work and are a great asset to us. Great job to Patrolman Davis and Deputy White.
Neighbors helping neighbors. Great example this week. Lady saw a gray hair lady and skinny male moving items from a neighbor's house. Neighbor made them put it all back. Lady got involved, but it all worked. We ask you to be a good witness and get all the information you can. Great Job Neighbor!
Gotta go. Thought for the week, I have noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born. Ya'll have a great week and if I can help, just holler. GOD BLESS.
