HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of auto burglaries and thefts that have happened over the last 48 hours.
Several neighborhoods throughout the County have been targeted including:
- Keith Road and Talpa Trail south of Lumberton
- Rock Creek Ridge off FM 421
- South Mill Creek Road near Silsbee
- Shakespear Lane south of Kountze
Three trucks have been stolen and multiple vehicles have been burglarized, according to a HCSO news release.
One vehicle was recovered after a chase that went from Lumberton and ended at a deer lease near Sour Lake.
Two men fled on foot from the stolen truck and have not been found, according to the release.
Another truck was found abandoned south of Kountze off Highway 326.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspects appear to be targeting firearms that are inside the vehicles.
Several Hardin County residents have come forward with surveillance video to help deputies, according to the release.
HCSO strongly encourages residents to remove all valuables, especially firearms, from their vehicles while parked. They also ask that residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood, particularly during the late hours after midnight.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a series of vehicle burglaries and thefts that have occurred over the last 48 hours. Two Hispanic males fled on foot from the stolen truck and have not been located. Another truck was abandoned and recovered south of Kountze off Hwy 326. The suspects appear to be targeting firearms from inside the vehicles. We are grateful for several residents who have come forward with home surveillance video. We are actively working to identify the suspects involved. We strongly encourage residents to remove all valuables and especially firearms from their parked vehicles. We ask that residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood, particularly during the late hours after midnight.
