KOUNTZE, Texas — The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a late night shooting that happened Saturday in Kountze.
At around 11:30 p.m. deputies were called to 5038 Barrows Lane in Kountze regarding a reported shooting.
There they discovered the victim, Michael Gregory Dawson, 34, near the road.
Dawson had what deputies described as a "superficial gunshot wound to the upper chest area".
Cody Michael Puckitt, 34 years old, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault and also with an outstanding warrant from Tyler County for revocation of probation.
Deputies say a preliminary investigation indicates that the two men were involved in a domestic dispute involving a female acquaintance.
According to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Puckitt remains in the Hardin County Jail, pending arraignment for bond.
