BEAUMONT, Texas — A Groves man was indicted by the Jefferson County grand jury for sexual assault of a child, after he allegedly assaulted a teenager over the course of several months.
54-year-old Charles Richard McDaniel is accused of assaulting the 15-year-old for nearly three months, giving her drugs and forcing her to have sex on a daily basis.
When the girl would refuse these sexual advances, McDaniel would reportedly lock her in a small shed in his yard according to court documents.
In a Probable Cause Affidavit, Groves officer Steven Boudreaux says that he was told by the mother of the teen, that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by McDaniel after staying at his house and not wanting to return home for months.
Court documents say that the teen later said she was too scared to leave McDaniel's home.
For three months, the teen says that McDaniel gave her crack, marijuana, "whippets" and alcohol. Afterwards he would force her to have sex with him.
According to court documents, during these sexual assaults McDaniel would sometimes choke her to the point of unconsciousness.
Anytime the girl would refuse, McDaniel would allegedly lock her in his shed in the yard according to court documents.
The girl says that there were times she was allowed to go home, but it was just to get money to buy more drugs. If she failed to return with the money, she would be locked back in the shed.
The girl told the court that McDaniel made her feel trapped, and like she had no way out of the situation.
McDaniel was arrested last week and is no stranger to law enforcement.
According to court documents he was convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm in 2004, as well as injury to a disable individual in 2011.
McDaniel is being held at the Jefferson County Jail, his bond is set at $125,000.
