ANAHUAC, Texas — The father of a man whose body was found last Friday along Interstate 10 near Wallisville has been arrested along with another man for tampering with a body.
The body of Romeo Jimerson, 29, of Channelview, was found in a grassy area along the frontage road of Interstate 10 near mile marker 807 according to a Chambers County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
Detectives identified Jimerson on Monday and worked to find out what happened to him by tracking down leads and speaking to those who had last seen him according to the sheriff's office.
On Tuesday detectives presented their findings to Chambers County District Attorney Cheryl Lieck-Henry who approved charges against Jimerson's father and a friend.
Cobin Rocio, of Channelview, who is Jimerson's father, and Melvin Carraway, of Houston, who is an acquaintance of both Jimerson and his father, have both been charged with "tampering with evidence – human corpse," which is a second-degree felony.
Rocio was arrested by deputies in Harris County with assistance from Pasadena Police officers according to the post.
Carraway was also arrested without incident according to deputies.
Both men are being held on $750,000 bonds in the Chambers County Jail.
Detectives are still investigating to learn more about the circumstances surrounding Jimerson's death and upgraded charges are expected to be filed according to the post.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
