Orange County constable makes yearly Valentine's Day offer to turn in your ex

Last year the post netted at least three misdemeanor arrests though he's always hoping for bigger fish.

VIDOR, Texas — For the third year in a row an Orange County Constable is offering up a special deal to scorned lovers on Valentine's Day.

Got an ex who's got warrants? Carrying drugs? If so, Orange County Precinct Four Constable Matthew Ortego has got a Valentine's Day offer just for you.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The above video first aired in 2022.)

Ortego's now third annual Valentine's Facebook post entices his followers to call Crime Stoppers at 409-833 TIPS to turn in their wanted exes.

Ortego's office covers Vidor and the northwest corner of the county.

He says he came up with the idea by following other Texas constables on social media.

"This Valentine’s Day Weekend Special starts off with a set of limited-edition platinum bracelets, free transportation with a chauffeur, a one-night minimum stay in luxurious accommodations and professional glamour shots that will be posted on online for all to enjoy," the tongue-in-cheek post reads.

Last year the post netted at least three misdemeanor arrests though he's always hoping for bigger fish.

Many have turned in others with outstanding traffic tickets he tells 12News. For those he usually calls or visits to remind them they have a warrant to take care of. Most make arrangements to pay, often having simply forgotten, but a few have opted for arrest to settle their fines according to Ortego.

There's no expiration on the offer Ortego says. It's actually good year-round.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
