Brief pursuit with Jasper County deputy leads to arrest of 2 men, 1 suspect still on the run

It was found that everyone in the vehicle had burglarized several buildings and a residence located off County Road 454 in Roaganville.

ROGANVILLE, Texas — Two men were arrested and charged and one is on the run after a brief pursuit with a Jasper County deputy. 

The pursuit happened on Thursday, January 5, 2023 on Bon Ami Road in Roaganville. After the chase, Rhodie Day, of Newton, and Tristan Dalgleish were arrested, according to a Jasper County Sheriff's Office release. 

Another person who was also in the vehicle was released. He was later identified as Jathan James, 18, of Kirbyville. 

Dalgleish was arrested on an unrelated Newton County warrant. 

Deputies found multiple items in the vehicle. The vehicle itself had been spray painted and had its license plates removed, according to a news release from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators later learned everyone in the vehicle had broken into several buildings and a residence located off County Road 454 in Roaganville.

Day is charged with unlawful carry of a weapon, evading arrest/detention w/vehicle, burglary of a habitation, unauthorized use of vehicle, theft of a firearm, four counts of burglary of a building and engaging in organized criminal activity.

He is being held in the Jasper County Jail on bonds totaling $122,500.

Dalgliesh is charged with burglary of a habitation, theft of a firearm, four counts of burglary of a building and engaging in organized criminal activity. He is being held in the Jasper County Jail on bonds totaling $92,500, set by Judge Hopson.

Dalgliesh was also denied bond forfeiture for an unrelated charge of burglary of a building out of Newton County. 

Deputies have yet to find James, who is still on the run. He is wanted for burglary of a habitation, theft of a firearm, four counts of burglary of a building, and engaging in organized criminal activity.
