Bridge City woman facing intox manslaughter charges in death of bicyclist early Friday in Bridge City

The 41-year-old bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

BRIDGE CITY, Texas — A 32-year-old Bridge CIty woman is behind bars on an intoxication manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a bicyclist early Friday morning.

Britni Martin, 32, of Bridge City, is being held in the Orange County Jail on charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and accident involving death, according to jail records. Her bond on the charges have not yet been set.

Bridge City Police officers were sent to the 1300 block of FM 1442 at about 1 a.m., after a wreck was reported, according to a news release from police.

When they got there, officers found a 2005 Honda Civic in the ditch on the south side of the road.

They then found that a bicyclist, Jesse Hedrick, 41,of Orange, had been struck by the Civic, that they learned was driven by Martin, the release said.

Hedrick was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by Orange County Precinct Two Justice of the Peace Chad Jenkins.

The wreck is still under investigation by police.
