BEAUMONT, Texas — A body found in a vacant Beaumont building a week ago has been identified as a Beaumont woman who had been reported missing in mid-September.
Police were sent on Friday, October 6, 2023, to a vacant building at the corner of Magnolia ST and Maple Ave after a body was reported to have been found there according to a news release from Beaumont Police and a file story.
When officers got there they found a body in an "advanced state of decomposition" according to a file story and police.
A week later police have announced that the body has been identified as Myeshia Johnson, 23, of Beaumont.
Johnson, who was reported missing on September 15, 2023, was last seen in the area of Cartwright and San Jacinto Streets south of College St police said.
Her body was found about four miles away from where she was last seen.
Johnson, who police say had battled mental health and substance abuse issues, was known to have frequented the area of Interstate 10 and 11th St in Beaumont.
Police are asking that anyone who may have seen to or spoken to her before September 15, 2023, call detectives at (409) 832-1234.
