Bocca Felice officially opens for dine-in after driver crashes into restaurant

A reportedly intoxicated driver crashed into the restaurant, causing significant damage on June 16.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Bocca Felice Italian Cuisine is now open for dine-in after a reportedly intoxicated driver crashed into the restaurant and caused major damage on June 16.

Some repairs have been made to the establishment, but they still have things to fix.

"Everything is slowly but surely coming together," said operations manager Anna Johnson. "Still some work to be done. Door and window are still not fixed."

On Friday, the restaurant celebrated with drinks and a live music performance by singer Hunter Courts.

'We will still have a limited menu," said Johnson. "We're just gonna [going to] add a few things to it."

The owner and operations manager were left with the aftermath and recovery of the restaurant following the crash.

"Unfortunately an incident happened early this morning and we are having to have some major repairs done," said the cuisine in a social media update. "We will be closed this week but we will keep y’all updated on the progress being made."

Beaumont police responded to 4405 Calder Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on June 16 and discovered a Toyota Avalon crashed inside the Bocca Felice Cuisine.

The driver, who was reportedly intoxicated, fled the scene of the crash, according to owner Antoine Ware.

A wrecker also responded to the restaurant and towed the vehicle out of the business.

The driver's entire front bumper was left behind after the vehicle was towed, with the license plate still attached.

"We would like to thank the City of Beaumont, BPD and the fire department for responding so quickly this morning," said the cuisine in an update. "We appreciate each of you for all you do for our community.  There were no injuries!"

Owner Ware and the operations manager, Anna Johnson are grateful for the support of the community.

"We appreciate all of our loyal customers and promise that we will be back and better than before," said the cuisine. " Please keep our business in your prayers, as well as all the other local businesses."

12News reached out to the Beaumont Police Department for details about the circumstances and status of the driver, but we are still waiting for a response.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
