BEAUMONT, Texas — A 25-year-old Beaumont woman will spend the next three months in jail followed by 10 years on probation for assaulting a peace officer.
Shania Brianca Mishaw, 25, of Beaumont, was sentenced on Tuesday by Judge John Stevens in Jefferson County's Criminal District Court after pleading guilty to assaulting a peace officer
Stevens ordered that Mishaw serve 10 years on probation including 90 days of "upfront jail time."
Stevens was going to allow Mishaw to serve the "upfront jail time" on weekends so that she could continue to work, but changed his mind after he learned that she had recently tested positive for THC, opiates, amphetamines, methamphetamines, and cocaine.
She will now start the 90 days immediately, Stevens ordered during court.
Mishaw is employed by a third party contractor to the Texas Workforce Commission to work for a TWC vocational rehab program.
The program operates at Vincent Middle School and the Paul Brown Learning Center for very few students, according to district spokesperson Jackie Simien. Mishaw has never been "employed by Beaumont ISD in any direct capacity," Simien told 12News.
Once released from jail she still faces two misdemeanor resisting arrest charges stemming from to separate incidents.
