Beaumont Police searching for 'person of interest' in fatal Friday night shooting

The man was pronounced dead by Beaumont EMS medics police said.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are searching for a 63-year-old Beaumont man in connection with the Friday night shooting death of another man.

Beaumont officers were sent to a home in the 1000 block of Campus St just before 11 p.m. where they found a wounded man on the porch according to a news release from Beaumont Police. 

The man has been identified as 17-year-old Louis Mitchell.

He was pronounced dead by Beaumont EMS medics police said.

Detectives are searching for Melvin Jerome Watson, 63, of Beaumont, as a "person of interest" in connection with the fatal shooting.

Anyone with information about where Watson may be or has information about the shooting is asked to call police at (409) 832-1234 or Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-8477.
