BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police expect to file charges after raiding a game room on College St Wednesday morning.
Police executed a search warrant at the game room in the 8000 block of College St. at about 11 a.m. Wednesday according to a news release from police.
Special services division detectives and special assignment unit officers along with members of the SWAT team and Beaumont Fire Department investigators were involved in the raid according to the release.
Police served the warrant as part of an investigation into the "promotion of gambling."
The SWAT team entered the game room first and secured it and everyone inside, which included customers and suspects.
During their search of the game room, police found "various evidence of promotion of gambling" and cash which they believe to be the proceeds of illegal gambling the release said.
During the raid a handgun was found on one of the game room customers police said.
Police say they expect to file charges including engaging in organized criminal activity in the form of promotion of gambling and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
