Beaumont officer assaulted during brawl at Fuma Dubai

When police tried to arrest the man who tried to take the BISD officer's weapon, he responded with a flurry of kicks and punches.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police arrested several people following a large brawl that happened at around midnight Saturday at Fuma Dubai.

On June 8, Beaumont Police officers responded to a call for assistance from Beaumont Independent School District officers who were working at Fuma Dubai at 4438 Dowlen.

BISDPD had reported a "large altercation involving several armed suspects".

Officers had reportedly already used pepper spray to try and control the situation, but it did little to quell the conflict as not long after a man reportedly tried to take one of the BISD officer's firearm.

When Beaumont Police officers arrived they were pointed to several suspects gathered around a vehicle. When police tried to arrest the man who tried to take the BISD officer's weapon, he responded with a flurry of kicks and punches.

After the initial struggle the man was finally arrested and identified as 23-year-old Keadrain Corbin of Beaumont. He has been charged with attempting to disarm a police officer, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest.

26-year-old Jonah Mitchel of Beaumont and 18-year-old Kito Simpson of Port Arthur were also arrested, both for unlawfully carrying a firearm.

The BPD officer who was attacked was admitted to a local hospital where they were treated and released within several hours.

The investigation is still ongoing.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
