BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place early Sunday morning at an Exxon gas station.

Beaumont police responded to the Honey's Drive-In located at 3111 Concord Rd. at 3:21 a.m. after receiving a report that someone was either shot or hit by a car.

When officers arrived, they discovered that a man was on the ground in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers provided medical assistance to the victim until EMS arrived and took over. The man was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police have identified the victim as Gregory Carrington, 24, of Beaumont.

Officers had to control a large crowd and identify any potential victims, suspects, and witnesses, according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

During the shooting, a 55-gallon barrel containing gas was struck by gunfire, causing it to spill in the Honey's parking lot and onto Delaware St.

Hazmat responded and firefighters shut down Delaware St. to clean the gasoline spill.
