Beaumont Police arrest two after car chase throughout city

Officers found suspected fentanyl and an AR style pistol with the suspects. They also found that the vehicle was reported stolen from an armed robbery in Louisiana.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Beaumont Police Department arrested two people after a brief car chase in Beaumont.

On Friday, January 19, 2024, around 3:0 p.m., BPD criminal interdiction officers stopped a white Honda while traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 because of a traffic violation, according to a BPD news release.

While officers were conducting their investigation, the juvenile driver of the vehicle began driving away and a chase followed.

The juvenile continued to evade throughout the city until they stopped at the end of Highland extension near the oil fields, according to the release.

The juvenile drive and adult passenger, 19-year-old Kabran Sinegal of Louisiana, were arrested.

Officers found suspected fentanyl and an AR style pistol with the two suspects. They also found that the vehicle was reported stolen from an armed robbery in Louisiana, according to the release.

Sinegal was brought to the Jefferson County Jail while the juvenile driver was brought to Mini Rogers  juvenile justice facility, the release states.

They are charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful carry of weapon, evading and possession of penalty group 1 controlled substance 1/1B.

Today, 1/19/24 at 3:30 PM, Beaumont Police Departments criminal interdiction officers stopped a white Honda for a traffic violation while traveling eastbound on interstate 10. While officers were conducting their investigation, the driver of the vehicle began driving away and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The juvenile driver of the vehicle continued to evade throughout the city until they came to a stop at the end of Highland extension near oil fields. At this time both suspects were placed under arrest without incident and found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl and an AR style pistol. It was also found that the vehicle was reported stolen from an armed robbery in Louisiana. The adult occupant, 19 year old Louisiana resident Kabran Sinegal, was transported to the Jefferson county jail. The juvenile was transported to mini Rogers juvenile justice facility. Charges are UUMV, UCW, Evading MV, Poss CS PG 1/1B.
