Beaumont police say a call about a suspicious person helped officers make an arrest following a night of 21 auto burglaries.

Investigators not only recovered some of the things that were taken but also found a car that was reported as stolen.

The first auto burglary was reported around midnight according to a police call log. A second one was reported about fifteen minutes later.

As police began going through surveillance video they saw the suspect driving a silver Infinity. As more burglaries began to be reported, dispatch got a call of a suspicious person in a silver infinity in the parking lot of the Residence Inn, located at 5380 Clearwater Ct.

Police went to talk to the man and found that he had property from one of the burglaries. The man, identified by police as Mark Timothy Roberts, 28, of Beaumont, was charged with burglary.

Officers determined the car was reported stolen, so he was also charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  A news release from the Beaumont Police Department says more charges may be filed as the investigation continues. No bond has been set for Roberts as of 2 p.m. Friday.
