BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police arrested three people suspected of stealing copper wire from an apartment complex in Beaumont on Sunday night.

Officers were sent to the apartment complex in the 5800 block of Cole Rd at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday night, October 27, 2024, according to a news release from police.

When they got there, officers spotted Ronald Barlow, 40, while he was cutting copper wire at the complex.

At the same time, another officer stopped David Benitez, 41 and Sheena Miller, 37, in a red truck that was trying to leave the complex. Officers found stolen copper wire in the truck that, they say, links the suspects to the theft, according to the news release.

All three were arrested by officers and taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where they were booked on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Jailers discovered, during intake, that Miller had methamphetamines on her so she will be facing an additional charge.

The police department's Criminal Investigations Division will be investigating.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
