Beaumont man pleads guilty to crimes against child after police discover texts and cell phone data linking him to crime

Jackson entered a plea agreement in which he would plead guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child in exchange for a cap of 8 years in prison at sentencing.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A 50-year-old Beaumont man plead guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child Monday, after police linked him with the victim through text and cell phone data.

Andrew Jackson was initially charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child, one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and one count of online solicitation of a minor.

However, today Jackson entered a plea agreement in which he would plead guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child in exchange for a cap of 8 years in prison at sentencing.

This cap means that the judge will be able to sentence Jackson up to 8 years in prison.

Jackson will also have to register as a sex offender.

Judge West ordered a pre-sentencing report to review before sentencing Jackson.

Once it is complete, the Judge will call Jackson back to court and information in the report will be used by her to decide his punishment.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
