BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont man has been arrested for a 2023 shooting that left the victim paralyzed.
On Thursday, November 30, 2023 around 3:44 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to a hospital about a victim of a shooting that arrived at the ER by a personal vehicle, according to a Beaumont Police Department news release.
When officers arrived, they talked to the victim, who had a gunshot wound on his back.
During the investigation police determined that the victim and several others were inside their vehicle in the 1500 block of Hale when the shooting occurred, according to the release.
The victim was able to provide street names of two of the three suspects.
Detectives identified Jayson Jamarion Arclies, 19, as one of the suspects and then filed the case with the District Attorney’s Office, according to the release.
On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Arclies was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing paralysis which is a first degree felony.
On Thursday, January 25 a warrant was issued and on January 26, BPD’s Special Assignment Unit arrested him.
The investigation is still ongoing and detectives know there are two other suspects involved in this crime. Both suspects are believed to be juveniles, according to the release. One of the juvenile suspects has been identified but the other has not.
