Knox pleaded guilty previously to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after being accused of holding a gun to the head of another Lamar student in a campus dorm room on March 10, 2024.

He had also faced a charge for unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place but that charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a Lamar University student after he allegedly committed an assault with a deadly weapon in the dorms in early March.

Knox was accused of being part of a group of four people, at least one armed with a handgun, who entered a dorm room in Gentry Hall at about 5 p.m. that evening according to file stories.

An argument broke out regarding the theft of someone's social security card and the group then assaulted the dorm resident and robbed them before fleeing, according to probable cause affidavit in the case.

The victim told Lamar Police officers that Knox put a gun to his head. The victim grabbed the gun and began fighting with Knox, the affidavit states.

The victim claims he released the gun, and then Knox cocked the pistol and hit the victim in the head. The gun went off and a bullet hit the victim's bedroom wall. Nobody was hit or injured by the bullet.

The victim said he fell to the ground and passed out. When he awoke, the dorm room was empty.
