BEAUMONT, Texas — An Orange man was sentenced to federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Texas.

Roy Allen John Jr., 47, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, according to an Eastern District of Texas news release.

On January 16, John was sentenced to 122 months, a little over 10 years, in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone, according to the release.

In January of 2022, John was arrested after selling approximately 27.89 grams of meth to someone for $350 in the Orange Home Depot parking lot, the release states.

An additional 123 grams of meth and three guns were found in the vehicle John was driving.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Orange Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph R. Batte.

The case was prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program.

PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime, according to the release. Through PSN, a group of stakeholders work together to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
