BEAUMONT, Texas — The suspect charged with tampering with evidence in the shooting death of Anthony Wilson is now facing federal charges after his younger brother confessed to fatally shooting 37-year-old Anthony Wilson, according to an affidavit filed with the U.S. Attorney's Office.
His younger brother, the 15-year-old suspect, confessed to a Beaumont Police Detective that he gave the gun to his older brother, Bernard Bell, after shooting Wilson.

Bell was charged with felon in possession of a firearm in the affidavit filed April 17. He told investigators that he threw the gun in a dumpster behind his apartment complex, located at 810 South Major Drive.

The gun used in the shooting is a Ruger, P 90, .45 Calibur and was in a black and silver case, the affidavit said.
Investigators said Bell has previous convictions for evading arrest, aggravated robbery and escaping while arrested, all charges in Jefferson County.
If Bell is found guilty of the federal charges, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine and a supervised release up to three years. If the federal court sentences him as an armed career offender, he could face 15 years to life in addition to a $250,000 fine and a supervised release up to 5 years.
The ATF is investigating the case.
