Vidor man dials 911, hangs up multiple times before arrest on gun, drug charges

Dispatchers were able to trace the calls to a single mobile phone and GPS coordinates to locate where the calls were made from.

VIDOR, Texas — A 46-year-old Vidor man is behind bars on drug and gun charges after basically calling the police on himself... again.

Abiyan Pondre Eaglin, 46, of Vidor, was arrested on drug and gun charges after police say several 911 hang-up calls led them to him.

Eaglin was high and acting paranoid and started dialing 911 Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll told 12News on Friday.

This is the second time Eaglin has done this Carroll said.

The Vidor Police Department received several 911 calls with the caller hanging up at about 12:15 a.m. on Friday morning according to a news release from police.

Dispatchers were able to trace the calls to a single mobile phone and locate where the calls were made from based on the phone's GPS coordinates the release said.

When officers were sent to the area on North Main St near Interstate 10 they found Eaglin outside a business there.

A dispatcher called the mobile phone back and officers were able to determine that the phone that had been calling 911 and hanging up was his the release said.

Police then found that Eaglin, who has a 2020 felony conviction for injury to a child, had methamphetamine, marijuana and a revolver on him.

He was arrested and is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm the release said.

He is being held in the Orange County Jail where his bond has not yet been set on the charges.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
