PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A 23-year-old Port Arthur man has been sentenced to probation for indecency with a child.
Chad Deshawn Holmes, 23, was sentenced, Tuesday morning, to 10 years on probation by Judge Raquel West in Jefferson County's 252nd District Court.
Holmes was originally indicted in May 2023 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child in the first degree.
As part of a plea deal he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of indecency with a child and received the probation sentence. He must also pay a $1,000 fine.
He was accused of assaulting a child at least three times over a two-day period after giving her "a substance that could impair her judgement", according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim was interviewed at the Garth House in Beaumont and other evidence was collected that led to the charge.
