BEAUMONT, Texas — The teen paralyzed in a rollover accident last Saturday thanked the community for their support in a video posted on Twitter.

Twitter user AbdelQaiyyim posted a video of Noah Washington thanking his supporters Thursday night. The video already has 3,700 views as of 10 a.m. Friday morning.

"I just want to thank y'all, everybody who been donating to my GoFundMe," Washington said from what appears to be a hospital bed.

"I appreciate it so much. And I love all y'all. Just keep me in y'all prayers. Without y'all, I wouldn't be the person who I am today. I'm changing my life around."

The four teens who were in the car when the driver lost control during a rainstorm and rolled over on Brooks Road near Major Drive in Jefferson County lost control and rolled over about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, July 13, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in an emailed statement.

Washington, 17, was ejected from the car during the crash. The GoFundMe organized for his recovery said the car flipped eight times and "result[ed] in a broken nose, the loss of one of his ears, blood on his brain, and a break so bad to his spine that it was completely disconnected, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down."

All four are students and football players at West Brook High School.

The fundraiser was just over $38,000 on Wednesday, July 17. Now it's $40,099 as of 10:18 a.m. Friday morning. The goal is $50,000 towards Noah's recovery, according to the GoFundMe.

The fundraiser also said Washington was air-lifed to a hospital in Houston where he had emergency surgery, including screws to hold his spine together and stitching his ear back on his head.

Raybren Morris, 17, of Beaumont, the driver, and his three passengers were all taken to hospitals with serious injuries.
