Jefferson County deputies rescue pilot from wreckage of plane crash at Missouri airport

The deputies were getting ready to transport a prisoner back to Texas when the crash happened.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies rescued a pilot in a plane crash at a Missouri airport while getting ready to transport a prisoner back to Texas. 

The crash happened at the Jefferson County Memorial Airport in Missouri on Saturday afternoon, July 20 on the same runway the two deputies were preparing air transport for a prisoner, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. 

Deputy Ellis and Captain Lowe pulled the pilot out of the plane and called for emergency personnel. The pilot was reported to have minor injuries. 

After the accident scene was clear, the deputies took the prisoner back to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, the post said. 

"It's all in a day's work!" the sheriff's office said.
